Iffin Lane began with the demolition of the existing dilapidated ‘Woodside’ bungalow, to make way for a high-quality replacement family home, set further back from the road.

The new home is designed to accommodate the site constraints and respect the surrounding vernacular.

Major challenges have included the discovery of mains drainage running directly through the site, the requirement to utilise the existing access road, and the consideration of the neighbouring architecture and landscaping in terms of scale and mass.

The resulting design is a contemporary interplay of volumes and materials that reflect the surrounding woodland and landscape. The horizontal emphasis creates a building that is visually subservient to the towering trees and neighbouring properties.
